Crown Heights Music School has been inspiring musicians and building community since it’s start in 2020. With lessons available nation wide, CHMS’s community of music makers continues to grow.

Our Studio
Private, one-on-one instruction allows students to progress at their own pace and gain the best understanding of musical techniques. Students can start private lessons any time of the year or month, so there's no need to wait to get started. No matter your skill level, age, or preferred style, we are happy to help.
CHMS features a cozy Brooklyn style private studio in our quaint home, equipped with instruments to use during lessons with plenty of leafy plants to make for a peaceful and creative learning environment.
At CHMS we don’t use an over-arching curriculum, instead we curate each lesson for each student, creating personalized lesson plans. We structure our lessons to include a combination of ear training, rhythm practice, harmony, songwriting, and music literacy. Whether you're totally new to the instrument or you've been playing your whole life (or somewhere in between), we are here for you.
Meet Co-Founders Max & Sasha
Sasha and Max met at Berklee College of Music where they began their professional career as touring musicians. Together they have performed and taught nationally and internationally, from music festivals to city venues, to educational workshops at schools and camps.
After moving to New York to continue their professional music career with their band Damn Tall Buildings, they were inspired to become involved in their community. Both coming from strong musical communities, Max and Sasha started Crown Heights Music School with the shared vision of spreading the love of music through education in their favorite neighborhood and beyond.
As of March 2020, both Sasha and Max are United States Diplomats for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State and the Association of American Voices. Sasha and Max continue to be inspired by their many travels, connections, and experiences with people and cultures from around the world.
